The University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire seeks a University Centers Director who can serve as an entrepreneurial partner working with campus and community leaders.
Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, the Director serves as the chief operating officer for the University Centers department in the Division of Student Affairs. In this role, the Director oversees programs, budget, staff, and facilities that serve to promote and enhance Student Life at the University. Units within the University Centers currently include the Activities, Involvement and Leadership Office, the Blugold Card Office, the Service Center, Event Production and Services, Camps & Conferences, and Printing Services.
The Director establishes and maintains positive collaborative relationships with other University departments, campus vendors, other institutions and various offices that support the University system. The Centers Director will have the opportunity to work collaboratively on future development of new construction and renovation projects on campus and in the community.
One of our major goals is to expand our Camps and Conferences program to generate new net revenue to support $2 million in student scholarships annually.
A new public-private performing arts center will be opening in the Fall of 2018, and the University is also planning the following major construction projects in the near future:
New recreation center in collaboration with the YMCA and Mayo Clinic
New events center
New dining hall
New residence hall construction and residence hall renovations
A minimum of 7 years of experience working in higher education
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a wide variety of on- and off-campus constituencies
A record of progressive responsibility in supervision
A record of progressive responsibility in managing auxiliary services
A deep and demonstrated commitment to equity for all people, diversity in all its forms and inclusivity of everyone
Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
Demonstrated ability to create and manage a large, complex program budget
Ability to use and adapt to current technologies
Educational background in college student personnel administration and/or Business
Proven ability to plan strategically
Visionary, creative, and innovative leader who demonstrates use of cutting-edge best practices
Evidence of experience creating learning outcomes and working with assessments
Experience in staff development
Strong team-building abilities with students and staff
Experience with renovation and new construction
Contract management experience
