Reporting to the Risk Manager, the Risk Analyst serves as the campus expert on both insured and self-insured programs. This includes General Liability, Auto Liability, Employment Practice Liability, Property, Professional Liability, Travel, Fine Arts, Marine and others. The Analyst provides analytical and consulting services to the campus community to minimize risk and manage losses. The incumbent is responsible for the coordination of claims activity including compliance with state and federal laws, University policies, and with the Third Party Administrator (TPA). Provides general, technical, and analytical assistance regarding insured and self-insured program data, including the collection, maintenance and distribution of data, data analysis, trending, benchmarking, conclusions, report writing, administrative analysis and research on special and ad hoc projects. Provides support/guidance to University departments for the maintenance and oversight of the various insurance/self-insurance products to ensure compliance with guidelines and overall protection of University assets. Will also serve in occasional back-up capacity for Workers Compensation program functions. Physical Demands: Work at computer terminal for extended periods. Sit for extended periods. Minimum Qualifications: -Experience in GL/AL/EPL/PL/Property or related claims administration. -Experience with data analysis, loss exposure and the related numerical and statistical analysis. -Experience and knowledge of California Workers' Compensation laws, regulations, and claims handling practices. -Knowledge of Risk Management principles -Excellent interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy and flexibility to work with departments, executive administrators, staff, students, third party administrators, consultants, and legal counsel. -Mathematical skills sufficient for calculations and statistical analysis. Preferred Qualifications: -Experience in GL/AL/EPL/PL/Property program claims administration and oversight within a University environment. -Experience with computers demonstrating intermediate level skills using software including Excel in writing formulas, graphing, regression, statistical analysis, pivot tables, data functions, sorting and macros to include managing directories and files for efficient storage and retrieval of information. -Knowledge of University Payroll system as well as Personnel, Employee and Labor Relations policies and procedures. -Experience and knowledge of risk management principles and loss control techniques in a self-insured environment. -Demonstrated ability using third party claims management software programs. -Experience and skills to make group presentations and train personnel.
