Job Posting: The Insurance Specialist provides support for the Director of Risk Management and the Risk Department by performing insurance coordination under the direction of the Director of Risk Management, CSMNS, the Insurance Specialist will assist in the coordination of the comprehensive insurance programs for the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Foundation affiliated medical groups. Under the Direction of the Director of Risk Management, the Insurance Specialist also coordinates the daily administrative needs of the Risk Department related to depositions, insurance coordination and the activities as directed in support of the Risk Management Department functions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Working under the direction of the Director, the Insurance Specialist will act as a liaison with brokers of record, insurance companies and CSMNS departments in facilitating the processing of insurance matters through proper and timely notification and acknowledgement of coverage. As directed, the Insurance Specialist will assist with other risk related activities at the discretion of the Director including routing of subpoenas and coordinating depositions for physicians. The Insurance Specialist will maintain all record-keeping associated with the insurance activities for all MDN medical groups and its affiliates. The Director of Risk Management will evaluate all risks to the enterprise and make insurance recommendations regarding the quality and sufficiency of the insurance coverage. The Insurance Specialist will assist as directed for the timely preparation of all insurance applications, correspondence and coordinate the processing for approval of premium invoices for the MDN. Under the direction of the Director of Risk Management, CSMNS, the Insurance Specialist will assist in the coordination of the comprehensive insurance programs for the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Foundation affiliated medical groups. The Insurance Specialist will process insurance invoices, route payments for approval through the Director of Risk Management, file invoices and track premium payments working in collaboration with the accounts payable department for timing payment processing. Provides administrative support by scheduling appointments and meetings, filing, opening/sorting mail, composing memos, minutes and routine correspondence, generating reports, ordering office supplies, managing bulk mail jobs, etc. Performs other tasks as assigned in support of the Risk Management department activities and functions. #LI-SR1 GD-MDN
Qualification Requirements/Preferences: Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: -Minimum of 2 years experience working with professional liability and business line insurance coverage for medical groups or 2 years experience working in a professional liability insurance company preferred. -Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; -Associates Degree required, Bachelor's Degree preferred. Graduation from an accredited college or university with coursework in insurance, business administration, healthcare administration, finance or related field. -2 to 3 years progressive administrative/secretarial experience in a busy office environment; computer literacy to include proficient use of Windows 95 to include MS Word and Excel; type 50-60 wpm; proven team worker with excellent customer relations skills. -Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and manage complex projects. Must be detail oriented and have excellent follow-through. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Demonstrated ability to compose, edit, and proofread reports and correspondence. Ability to read and interpret documents. Effective telephone dialogue skills. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Experience demonstrating the ability to handle multiple tasks frequently within short timeliness, to prioritize and organize work, and to complete assignments in a timely manner.
